Tallgrass to Invest $100,000 to Address Growing Energy Affordability Crisis as Utility Support Continues to Rank Among Top Calls to 211 Colorado

Denver, CO - Energy Outreach Colorado (EOC) announced a new $100,000 commitment from Tallgrass to help combat Colorado’s growing energy affordability crisis.

This commitment comes at a critical time. Energy Outreach Colorado’s independent research shows Colorado currently ranks 8th nationally for energy insecurity, with nearly one-third of households struggling with energy bills, and 68% of surveyed households identifying “paying past due utility bills” as their greatest need, a need that is exacerbated in the summer months.

The collaboration represents a natural alignment between two organizations committed to ensuring all Coloradans have reliable access to affordable energy. While EOC works directly with families facing impossible choices between keeping their home at a safe temperature and meeting other basic needs, Tallgrass operates over 10,000 miles of pipeline infrastructure nationwide, including critical systems that deliver affordable energy throughout Colorado communities.

“Energy affordability isn’t just a policy issue. It is about families having to choose between keeping the lights on and putting food on the table,” said Jennifer Gremmert, CEO of Energy Outreach Colorado. “Tallgrass understands that true energy security means both reliable infrastructure and ensuring that energy remains accessible to all families. This commitment allows us to reach more families during what has become an increasingly challenging time for household budgets across Colorado.”

Tallgrass plays a role in ensuring affordable energy by encompassing both traditional and emerging infrastructure solutions. The company’s extensive pipeline network delivers affordable natural gas that powers homes and businesses across Colorado, while its forward-looking approach positions it to support new energy infrastructure as the state’s energy landscape continues to evolve.

The $100,000 investment will provide direct bill payment assistance for qualifying households throughout Colorado. EOC’s comprehensive approach ensures families receive not just immediate relief, but also long-term solutions that can reduce future energy burdens. This commitment reinforces both organizations’ efforts to create affordable energy solutions for Colorado communities.

Coloradans who need energy assistance can apply through EOC’s website at energyoutreach.org or by calling 1-866-HEAT-HELP (1-866-432-8435).
