Adams County Regional Economic Partnership Hosts 2023 “State of the Region”
Westminster, CO – Yesterday the Adams County Regional Economic Partnership (AC-REP) hosted its annual State of the Region luncheon. The event highlighted economic growth, demographic trends, and achievements of local businesses and communities within the Greater Adams County region.
Remarks from keynote speakers included: Governor Jared Polis, Colorado State Demographer Elizabeth Garner, and Adams County Commissioner Steve O’Dorisio.
As it relates to the future of Adams County, “I think we can all agree that livability and affordability are some of the key factors. With people, businesses are able to come and grow and thrive in our state…and that’s going to be a key part of our future,” said Governor Jared Polis. “I’m very much looking forward to continuing our partnership with the Adams County Regional Economic Partnership…I always look forward to making sure what we’re doing for the state will work for Adams County and help to make sure that the state of Colorado can continue to help you write the next chapter of Adams County’s success.”
According to Colorado State Demographer Elizabeth Garner, Adams County is seeing significant growth in the economic sector. Compared to other Colorado counties, it has seen the second largest growth in jobs from 2002 to 2021. But Garner also stressed the importance of maintaining a quality workforce as the state’s population growth declines because many are reaching retirement age and fewer babies are born. “We can’t waste a person, we’re going to need them more and more,” she said.
With the support of the local elected leaders in the county, there is an ongoing push to continue to provide a varied range of services to support the increasingly diverse population and evolution of the region. “Adams County is one of the fastest-growing counties in Colorado and our local partners like AC-REP are largely responsible for facilitating that growth,” said Adams County Commissioner Steve O’ Dorisio. He listed several priorities for the county that are currently underway, including housing affordability, homelessness prevention and services, and commercial and industrial development.
“The Greater Adams County Region is poised for innovation and economic opportunities. We look forward to working alongside investors and local community partners and leaders who contribute to the ongoing evolution in our region,” said Lisa Hough, President & CEO of AC-REP. “We are excited about the continued economic growth to benefit the next generation of citizens, and we are thankful for the diverse group of leaders who shared their insights and knowledge on issues that are critical to our region’s economic future.”
